Thirty Pieces of Silver

York Museums Trust - 30 Pieces of Silver

Thirty Pieces of Silver is an installation by renowned artist Corneilia Parker. The work is on display at York St Mary's between 28 May - 30 October, 2011. To coincide with the launch of the installation, York Museums Trust held a lecture and "In Conversation' with the artist which Agathon filmed as well as streaming live to the web.

Ideal Care Homes - Berkeley Court Promotional Video

Ideal Care Homes is a new name in the care sector, offering the highest quality of personalised care in a contemporary and relaxed setting at an affordable price for all. Ideal Care Homes wished to develop a series of short web videos to attract residents to it's Berkeley Court home in Leeds. Agathon produced a series of six videos, each focussing on a key aspect of the care offered.

York St John University - Moodle Videos

York St John University uses Moodle as its virtual learning environment (VLE) for all students studying at the University. Agathon was commissioned to produce a series of videos, which both promoted the benefits of the VLE, through student and staff interviews, and which also guided students through the key features of the system.

York St John University - 2011 Literature Series

York St John University has a strong reputation for a fresh approach to creative writing and literature studies. The 2011 Literature Series offers a range of events, including talks by the author Jackie Kay and poet Jack Mapanje. Agathon was commissioned to record key selected events.

Agathon have been working with York Against Cancer to develop a series of videos that look at the charities fundraising, research, education and care services. We created a non-profit YouTube channel for the charity, filmed and edited films looking at the care services delivered as well as editing existing footage.

NYBEP - Create Your Future Event

Create Your Future was the first event of the 201 York Business Week. It provided networking opportunities for creative professionals in the City, together with a series of discussions and workshops. Agathon were asked to document the event, producing a short film to capture the essence of the day and to help promote future events.

Parashoots - York St John University Business School

Agathon are working with Parashoots, on the production of video tutorials for the York St John University Business School. The videos form part of a collabortive project between YSJ and Robert Kennedy College, Switzerland to deliver an innovative international Business Management trining programme.

Nuclear Apprentice

National Skills Academy for Nuclear - Community Apprentices

Working closely with Skyblue Research, Agathon was commissioned to produce a number of short films as part of the evaluation of the Community Apprentice Scheme. Including interviews with employers, apprentices, training providers and the NSA Project Manager, our films were used at the National Skills Academy for Nuclear’s UK conference in 2009 and are available to view on the NSAN website.

Illuminating York

City of York Council - Illuminating York Festival

Now in its fifth year, the Illuminating York festival continues to breathe light and innovation into the city's historic and urban centre. Visitors to the festival were invited to experience cutting edge creative technology at its most beautiful with three uniquely comissioned works for 2009. Agathon were commissioned to record the event, including the festival launch, and produce a range of resources which capture the excitement of the installations and their engagement with visitors.

Yorkshire Gold - Visit to the Region by Seb Coe

In November 2009, Seb Coe visited a number of sporting venues across Sheffield, to meet athletes and schoolchildren who have been inspired by the London 2012 Games. He also met representatives of the Serbian National Olympic Committee, which has chosen Sheffield for its pre-Games training camp, and visited his old school in Tapton. Agathon were asked to accompany Seb Coe for the day, to document the visit and to film an interview for Serbian television.

Bamburgh Research Project (BRP)

BRP is an archaeological project set up in 1996 to investigate the history of Bamburgh Castle. During the main season (June - July), Agathon supports the media team in recording and editing footage of the day to day actuality of the archaeological dig and producing educational and promotional materials. We also provide ongoing website development and maintenance support and are co-producing a feature length documentary about the Castle.

Sing Up - Big Sing at Selby Abbey

The Big Sing performance was part of a £4 million government-run national initiative aimed at engaging children across the country in the joys of song. 350 youngsters from local primary schools rehearsed a number of songs, including Christmas-themed songs, gospel, jazz and a host of other styles. This was followed by a concert for parents and friends. Agathon were there filming the whole event and have produced a DVD of the full performance and a short summary film of the day.

Science City York - York Cultural Symposium

The event brought together creative and digital businesses, developers and planners, councillors, decision makers and other interested parties, to collectively look at ways of harnessing 21st century technologies in developing urban infrastructures, to improve interactivity and communication, and to enhance the cultural offering in York and North Yorkshire. Agathon was asked to film the Symposium, providing a permanent record of the days proceedings and producing a short film which encapsulated the the key themes of the event.

SEE for the 2012 Games Network - A Learning Legacy in Action

The SEE for the 2012 Games Network harnesses the talents of over 600 partners in Yorkshire and the Humber, each committed to ensuring a lasting legacy of skills, employment and education as a result of the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Cultural Olympiad. Agathon were commissioned to create a promotional film involving children and young people, students and businesses that 'without any words' visualises what sort of learning opportunities there are linked to the values and philosophy of the Olympic movement.

We produced a series of careers case study videos across various industry sectors and occupations for integration into a regional employment website. We developed interview scripts, identified and recruited suitable employers and filmed and edited the case studies with employees and employer representatives. We also assisted with the design of an interactive web front end to provide an engaging interface to the case study material. Selected footage was also used in a series of learning packs for local schools.
